OK - I uninstalled all versions of MS 2010. The "progr & feat" shows nil installed under ms office. I reinstalled ms 2010 pro plus and information technology installed without error (accepted prod key). It nevertheless requires activation and says unlicensed and will not actuate (figurer errors out). I uninstalled once again, again no mention of office in "prog and feat". I need to get reports out and then I purchased a new retail version of ms 2010 pro (no plus) and installed on the desktop. All went well no errors, and it fully activated. I get to run word, excel, etc and I get Need to exist activated error message and it is indicating I am running Pro Plus?? Microsoft has an uninstall / install fixit program which I ran with no divergence. I accept done the above bike (uninstall, reboot, install) numerous time with the aforementioned result. I just noticed, later I uninstall all offices 2010. I can yet run give-and-take, excel, outlook, etc without any office product showing in "prog and feats", but I go 2010 pro plus request for activation. What is going on and how do I get this to work?

Are we to understand that you take now installed three different versions of Office 2010? If so information technology is non a surprise that the operating system is confused, equally they will share information and registry entries will remain after they are removed.
If you tin can still run Function applications after uninstallation, then clearly you oasis't installed ane of them - possibly one that was installed using Click to Run applied science.
See http://office.microsoft.com/en-usa/give-and-take-assist/click-to-run-switch-to-using-an-msi-based-role-edition-HA101850538.aspx
Remove all versions of Function - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301 and and so re-install one of them for which you have the production key. The activation status will be shown nether File > Help of (say) Word.
Windows viii may well have come up with a trial version of Role 2013 in which case that volition but make matters worse, and must in whatsoever case exist removed earlier installing Function 2010 - meet http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2739501
